forward answers to what fanners
may face in the industry in the
coming years.
A special panel on environmen
tal concerns touched on some of
the aspects of the 1990 Farm Bill.
Panels on nitrate leaching losses
from com fields, agricultural water
quality, and wetland regulations
brought home some of the con
cerns farmers must learn to face.
Presented by Richard H. Fox,
Penn State Field Crop Production
Systems, Dept, of Agronomy, the
nitrate leaching panel emphasized
some of the headway that the col
lege has made in providing exact
data on nitrate leaching.
Fox touched upon some of the
results of a special 1983 study by
the League of Women Voters. This
$23 million study underlined the
need for more information on

reas and imidazolinones have
created a great sense of optimism
in the farming community as they
pertain to combating their weed
problems.

labeled for use in the mid-Atlantic
region are outlined in Table 1.
