Md.— Farm income in Maryland for 1989 amounted to $402.6 million after expenses. Income from broilers set a record at $448.90 million, up 13 percent from the previous year. This is according to the just released “Maryland Agricultural Statistics” annual report for 1989. The report is published coopera tively by the Maryland Depart ment of Agriculture and the National Agricultural Statistics Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. In issuing the report, Maryland Secretary of Agriculture Wayne A. Cawley, Jr. praised Maryland farmers for their contributions to the economy of Maryland. A -C / . The report includes data on crop production, livestock and poultry members, production, prices, and income of the agricul ture industry. Included for the first time are statistics on Maryland’s aquaculture business. According to the report, timely rains helped the 1989 com crop bounce back after three bad years.
