generation. I’ve found doctors,
lawyers, teachers, dentists and so
many farmers but no Indian

Several branches of our fami
lies can be traced to Switzerland
and also Germany. So far the
Herr’s, Landis’s, Shreiner’s,
Kraybill’s, Reist’s and Weidler’s
have ancestors known to have
come from Europe. But there are
many more family trees that are
yet to be discovered.
Recopying charts includes so
many dates. Birth, marriage, and
death dates are considered to be
the most important. Dates, dates
and more dates but are they the
most important? Wouldn’t we all
like to be remembered by more
than three dates? Think of all the
things that happen over the years
the memories that accumulate

Armstrong, whose watercolor
paintings depict America’s rural
areas and farmland, has exhibited
in New York for twenty years.
This presentation, entitled “Our
Disappearing American Land
scape”, is Armstrong’s seventh
one-man show at the Hammer
Galleries. In addition to the recep
tion, a portion of the proceeds
from the sale of Armstrong’s
paintings during the exhibition
will be donated to support the
American Farmland Trust’s
programs.
“I’m honored that my work will
benefit the worthwhile efforts of
the American Farmland Trust,”
said Armstrong, who lives on a
historic farm in Lycoming Coun
ty, Pennsylvania. “To preserve
irreplaceable natural resources,
we must all realize our responsi
bility towards our endangered
landscape.”
The American Farmland Trust
(AFT) is the nation’s only nonpro
fit, membership organization sol
ely dedicated to preserving
America’s valuable agricultural
resources. With the support of
20,000 members, AIT works to
stop the loss of productive farm
land and to promote farming prac
tices.
