Gale, extension agent, pointed out that competi tion gave 4-H’ers an opportunity to display their skills in horseman ship and proper horse grooming. More than 650 winners in coun ty and district competitions from all over the state vied for awards. Columbia County had 18 4-H’ers entered. Events tested skills in showmanship, pole bending, bar rel racing, and jumping.
