Smysers’ Richlawn Farms claimed more than half the awards presented at the York DHIA dinner and meet ing, held Monday evening at the county 4-H Center. The family-owned dairy opera tion on East Berlin Road, York, received plaques for top herd in milk, protein and fat, plus a trio more for high individual records in the same categories. Herd aver age on their 7 5-head registered Holstein herd was 27,629 milk, 860 protein and 892 fat. Individual cows honors were claimed by three separate herd mates. The awards came as no surprise to the Smyser family, since the herd’s accomplishments topped state production lists for the recently-ended testing year.
