D4-Lancaster Farming Saturday, October 20,1990 VERNON ACHENBACH JR. Lancaster Farming Staff MANHEIM (Lancaster Co.) The acorn apparently doesn’t fall far from the tree in the Brubaker family of Manheim. Of the four breeds shown at the Manheim Farm Show dairy show, the Holstein breed entries far out numbered representative entries from other breeds. And of the Holstein entries, the number of animals from the Brubaker clan ran heavy. Lowell Brubaker and his father Harold, though showing animals from different herds, captured a number of the top Holstein titles in the senior division and the top titles of the breed show. Harold’s animals took grand champion and Lowell captured reserve grand champion. However, the Brubakers didn’t run away with the show. In the junior division the Bollin gers, Kolbs and Hersheys made a strong showing with the titles going to the Bollingers and Kolbs. In the Jersey breed, Robyn Groff and Rodney Sweigart fought it out in the limited competition with Robyn’s entry taking grand champion and Rodney’s taking reserve. Both Robyn and Ronald Groff dominated the Ayrshire competi tion, with one of Ronald’s animals taking the grand title and Robyn’s taking reserve grand status. In the Guernsey breed, the duo of Heather and David Henisee con tinued a summer of winning by showing cows that took grand and reserve titles, respectively. Unlike many small community dairy shows, officials with the Manheim Farm Show elect not to - gi ip> showing from Lowell Brubaker, is Louise Moyer, while Low ell’s father Harold shows his grand champion. 9f w* Farm Show dairy show.
