In a somewhat unusual turn of events, a 6-year-old dry Holstein took the supreme title during the 4-H dairy show at the York Fair. Outstanding strength and a powerful front end overcame the lack of an udder in bloom for 4-H supreme champion Lady Dar- Dale Pabst Kimberly, exhibited by Shannon Doll, Brodbecks. Judges John Burket, East Free dom, and Thomas Dum, Elliotts burg, kept the crowd in suspense while selecting the supreme win ner from a field of five dairy breed champions exhibited by the fair’s 4-IT exhibitors. It was a triumphant day for the 16-year-old southwest dairy club member, who also exhibited the junior champion Holstein, as well as the top Ayrshire breed winner. Other top honors in the Holstein division were shared by Angie Lang, York, exhibiting her junior 3-year-old to the breed’s reserve senior and grand championship, and Greg Gemmill, Delta, show ing the reserve junior champion. Ayrshire junior and grand champion for Shannon Doll was Ray-Knoll Johnny’s Valerie, a senior yearling. Brown Swiss junior and grand champion honors went to Kelly Jo Myers, Thomasville. Kelly Morris, Fawn Grove, claimed two of the top four Guern sey breed prizes. Her 4-year-old Beas Bonus Tinkerbell, was cho sen senior and grand champion, with the winning cow’s intermedi ate age heifer taking the junior champion honors. Reserve senior and grand Guernsey was exhibited by Annie Rauhauser, Dover, and reserve junior champion went to Jenelle Boyer, York. Senior and grand champion Jersey was Golden Yankees Sweetness, exhibited by Jasin Doll, Brodbecks. Junior champion and reserve was the senior calf exhibited by Paul Rauhauser, Dover.
