Senior Breeder Award Roger and Peggy Myers took over the family farm m 1953, near Westminster, and purchased his first registered Holstcms in 1955. His venture into registered Hols teins became a joint venture with his sons in support and encourage ment of their interest in registered Holsteins. Extensive use of Elevation rep- Lancaster Fanning, Saturday, September 22,1990-A47 resented a turning point for the herd, with, at one lime, more than a third of the milking herd being sired by Elevation. The best known daughter, Del- Myr Elevation Donna, was best bred and owned at the 1977 East ern National Show. Another high light in the show ring for Del-Myr Farm was being named premier breeder and exhibitor at the 1982 Maryland State Fair. From the beginnings of a 10,000 pound herd average in 1953, the herd has neared the 22,000-pound mark and was the first herd in Carroll County tc attain 800 pounds of fat. Five Progressive Breeders Registry Awards are representative of the Del-Myr herd’s consistently high production and BAA of 106. Roger has served as president of the Carroll County Holstein Club, as a director on the state Holstein Board, and as a delegate to the National Holstein Conven tion. In addition, he has served on both local and stale DHI Boards, as well as being active m church and community activities. Through their interest and sup port Roger and Peggy have given their children, all have remained close to agriculture. Sons Jason and Jeff, both beneficiaries of past partnerships with Roger, arc actively involved in Holstein operations, as well as daughter Joanne. Jerry still owns Holstein cattle while employed as an agri culture extension agent. r SPECIAL NOTICE FEEDER J & STOCKER 1 AUCTION ! 300 to 500 Head I I All Weights, All Breeds jj | FRIDAY, OCT. 19, 1990 ! | 7:30 PM. | u r I Market The Auction Way I 5 Professionally At: I I VINTAGE SALES STABLES, i I INC. { I Box 100, Paradise, PA I For Information Call; Home- 215-458-8518 Business- 717-442-4181 MILK.
