Co.) — The Zimmerman Family
of Providence Township and the
Lancaster Farmland Trust, in an
innovative mix of preservation
techniques, have preserved their
small farm through the establish
ment of a scholarship fund.
The non-profit farmland preser
vation group has established and
funded' a five-figure scholarship
fund for the grandchildren of the
late John Zimmerman and his wife
Ruth, in exchange for a permanent
conservation easement on the

The Zimmermans’ grandchil
dren are Rachel Anderman,
Jonathan Anderman, Paul
Zimmerman-Clayton, and Eliz
abeth Zimmerman-Clayton. The
Zimmerman farm is the first of
several projects to be funded
through the Laura Flanagan
Memorial Fund, which was estab
lished last year by Michael and
Barbara Flanagan.

Trust officials have been work
ing with the Zimmerman family
since 1984, when the late John
Zimmerman and his wife Ruth
expressed their desire to see the
family farm preserved. After John
Zimmerman’s death in 1988, Ruth
and daughters Nancy Zimmerman
