A 9-year-old-boy, Lee Bailey, from Roaring Spring, and his spot lessly clean Jersey junior calf walked off with the junior fitting trophy at the 4-H Dairy Show held recently at the Morrison’s Cove Memorial Park. Junior showman was Yvette England of Williamsburg. Senior fitting went to Melissa Morrow of Sinking Valley with a well groomed, tail brushed to perfec tion, Guernsey. Tom Greenleaf, Martinsburg, was senior showman. Judge Richard Little, extension agent, Montour County, had only good comments to make about all the fitting and showing show. “There were just big mistakes,” he said. “We are here to advertise milk,” he continued, speaking of the fit ting show. “And, we want the public to see clean cows. Today, you see just that.” Clinton Black of Altoona RD 3, took the grand champion holstein title with a 4-year-old. Black was also senior champion. Eric LINDA WILLIAMS Correspondent MARTINSBURG (Blair Coun ty) Holsteins dominated the 40th annual FFA Dairy Show held July 31, at the Morrison’s Cove Memorial Park in Martinsburg. Winning the Holstein senior and grand champion awards with a 2-year-old was Eric Stine of Center County. Reserve and reserve grand went to Keith Ken nedy from Blair County, also with a two-year-old. Jersey senior and grand champ ion awards went to David Jenkins of Somerset. Jenkins also captured the reserve senior champion award and Joy Clapper of Mar tinsburg was the owner of the Jersey reserve grand champion. Robert Fritz, of Garret, took all Youth Captures Fitting Award Stine; 2. Eric Frederick; 3. Tracy Smith. Rachel McCutcheon of Altoona RD 3, took all top awards in the Ayrshire division. She took top place honors in the junior calf, senior calf, and 4-year-old division. Kristi Snider of New Enterprise was the Guernsey senior and grand champion winner with a 3-year-old entry Brandon Snider was reserve grand champion with a dry cow. Bedford County dominated the Guernsey awards with Galen McDonald and Melissa Mc- Donald taking the senior, reserve senior and grand champion tro phies while Brandon Snider has the reserve grand champion.
