With his hog weighing in at 240 pounds, not only did Jason Cox, 14, of Manheim win the 4-H swine grand champion Wednesday night at the Lancaster 4-H Round up, but he also commanded a pretty hefty price for his Hampshire/Duroc cross. Doug Clemens of Hatfield Quality Meals, Montgomery County, purchased the hog for $684 $2.85 per pound. Jason also picked up reserve heavyweight champion hog at the competition, which sold to Arnold’s Hog Farm for $215.04 $.84 per pound. Reserve champion was picked up by the 230-pound Duroc cross owned by Cory Pfautz, 12, of Lititz. Wilmer Kreider picked the hog up at the auction for $368 $1.60 per pound. Judge for the show was Henry Holloway of Darlington, Maryland.
