FFA Members Earn Berth To VERNON ACHENBACH, JR. Lancaster Farming Staff SOUTH LEBANON (Lebanon Co.) By showing some top dairy cattle, a number of young FFA men and women in south eastern Pennsylvania on Tuesday earned a ticket to the state FFA show scheduled for early Septem ber m Harrisburg. During the 35th Pennsylvania South East Region FFA Dairy Show, held at the Lebanon Area Fair Grounds, members from Lebanon, Lancaster and Berks counties pitted some of their best dairy animals against each other in hopes of earning a berth to the upcoming state dairy show. Those whose animals were awarded blue ribbons qualified for the trip. Judging was on the Danish Sys tem with blue, red and white rib bons being awarded at the judges’ discretion, based on quality of ani mal, instead of placing in a class. Judge for the showmanship and colored breeds was Allen Hostet ler, of Annville. Dale Olver, State College, with the PSU dairy judg ing team, judged for fitting and the Holstein breed. Members from three counties participated in the event, although the competitions were open to members in a nine-county region. The results of the day’s compet ition were: FITTING Bth & 9th Grade 1.
