Apple crop condition was rated 86 percent average and 14 percent below average. By week’s end, 94 percent of Pennsylvania’s first cutting of alfalfa and 23 percent of the second cutting had been completed. Last year, 70 percent of the first cutting and 17 percent of the second cutting were completed. By the end of the week, 81 percent of clover-timothy was cut. Last year, 57 percent had been cut Quality of hay was rated 38 percent good, 58 percent fair, and 4 percent poor by our respondents. Respondents rated the amount of feed being obtained from pastures by week’s end as 11 percent above average, 64 percent average, and 25 percent below average.
