Warren County Crops Day
WARREN (Warren Co.)— The
major crops grown by the more
than 500 Warren County farmers
are com, alfalfa, and oats. This
year’s Crops Day will be held
Wednesday, February 21, from
9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., at the 4-H
Center in the Warren County
Fairgrounds.
The day will feature talks on
com management, weed control,
and integrated pest management
There will also be exhibitors of
various crop services and
equipment
The following speakers will be
discussing these topics:
• Richard Snyder, a com grow
er from Lycoming County,
“Aggressive Com Growing and
Marketing.” Snyder grows and
markets 2SO acres of com annual
ly. His average yield in the Penn

fa.” A general discussion of cur
rent weed control strategies for
agronomic crops. There will be a
review of some of the problems
that were encountered with herbi
cides the previous growing season
and what can be done to minimize
the potential for repeat occur
ences. New products and best
strategies for controlling some of
the more troublesome weeds will
be reviewed. Also, “Integrated
Weed Management Practices,”
will review practices that can be
used to reduce the dependency on
herbicides. The role of herbicides
in current production practices
and what changes will be required

plant’s growth and development

potential by understanding the
plant’s resource allocation priori
ties. And, “IPM: What Docs It
Mean To You?” Integrated pest
management information is col
lected by monitoring and can
reduce the risk in decision

The Crops Day Program will
qualify licensed pesticide applica
tors for two credits core and four
credits category training. It is
