The Pennsylvania Ayrshire Breeders’ Executive Committee met recent ly to review its progress in 1989 and to set its sights on an even more eventful year in 1990. Presi dent, John Rodgers presided over the business meeting at his home near Belleville, PA. Highlighting the agenda for the day were plans for the first Penn sylvania Ayrshire Convention which is scheduled for March 30 and 31,1990 at the Holiday Inn at Lewistown, Mifflin County. Activities on Friday evening will include a banquet, a speaker per haps from an Artificial Insemina tion organization, selection of an Ayrshire princess, and the annual PA Ayrshire Calf and Heifer Sale. Groundworks are being layed for a PA Ayrshire Breeders Hall of Fame. Saturday morning’s activities will begin with a youth social, fol lowed by the annual PA Ayrshire meeting. Plans for a PA Ayrshire Futurity will be unveiled during the morning session. Following a buffet lunch there will be a dairy show for Junior Ayrshire exhibi tors. Plans are to have six calf and yearling classes including non milking age heifers only. There may also be a junior group of best three owned by one exhibitor and a best bred and owned class. Sale animals, no matter who purchased them are also eligible for the show. There will be an entry fee for each animal exhibited and pre miums will be awarded. In other business matters. John Rodgers informed the group that the National Ayrshire Association now has a video tape for promot ing Ayrshire cattle. It was decided that the Farm Show would be a good place to show the video. Earl Keefer, Millersburg, PA reported on the status of the PA All-American Dairy Show stating that the 1990 show will be a three day show plus the PA Junior Dairy Show. The executive committee members decided to support the hospitality portion of the PAADS. The sales committee, repre sented by Milt Brubaker, Lititz, recommends asking the AYR SHIRE COW CONNECTION to manage the 1990 PA Elite Ayr shire Sale that is held in conjunc tion with the PAADS.
