The Wayne County Holstein Club held their annual meeting and banquet ear lier this month at the Belmont Comers Fire Hall. About 100 Wayne County Hol stein breeders and their families and friends attended this annual event One of the highlights of this meeting was the presentation of awards to the junior members in Wayne County. The Wayne County 4-H dairy judging teams were recognized for their judging success this past spring. The Wayne County jun ior’s 4-H dairy judging team con sisted of Emily Bryant, Carrie Bryant, and Zack Bryant. They earned a second-place finish over all in the junior division. The contest was the Penn State Dairy Science Club’s annual Spring Invitational Dairy Catde Judging Contest. Other awards included the an nouncement of the milk, butterfat and protein contest award win ners. They include; Carrie Bry ant’s two-year-old cow “High land-Farm Nugget Nora” with 3.2 percent butterfat and 3.1 percent protein. This cow was the highest two-year-old cow for milk, butter fat and protein production. The highest-producing three-year-old cow for milk and butterfat produc tion was “Chyle-Land Dairy Riv ers Fran.” Fran produced 24,162 pounds of milk and 3.4 percent butterfat The highest-producing three-year-old cow for protein production was “Chyle-Land Dairy Trump Dolly” with a record of 23,326 pounds of milk, 743 Receive Awards At Holstein pounds of butterfat. and 771 pounds of protein. The highest-producing four year-old cow for milk and protein production was “Jericho Dairy Laura Demd Heidi” with 23,803 pounds of milk, 806 pounds of butterfat plus 713 pounds of pro tein. This cow is owned by James L. Woodmansee Jr., of Lake Como.
