The Pennsylvania Dairy Pro motion Program Commodity Mar keting Board has set the stage for a new fiscal year that will focus on cooperative advertising and pro motions. In September, at its final meet ing of the 1988-89 fiscal year, the Board approved a 1989-90 media plan that will be jointly executed with ADA/DC and Mid East UDIA, as part of the three groups’ recently signed agreement. Each group will contribute $700,000 to a $2.1 million campaign that will include fluid milk, ice cream and all-product holiday broadcast flights, plus outdoor media. The PDPP is also retaining the public relations and marketing services of the Harrisburg-based Partnership of Packer, Oesterling and Smith (PPO&S), which will work with the PDPP Board and staff in implementing publicity, cooperative mershandising pro motions, special events and will produce a variety of publications and collateral materials. For the 1989-90 fiscal year, the PDPP Board has approved a $1.5 million budget, based on estimat ed dairy farmer contributions, of which 58 percent is earmarked for advertising and 10 percent for public relations and marketing projects. Another 11 percent has been allocated for assisting local dairy promotion groups in imple menting their special events; 11 percent is to help fund nutrition education through the Dairy Council, Inc. units serving Penn sylvania; 6 percent will go to re search and to reach the retail and food service publics; and 4 per cent is slated for administrative costs.
