Michael Smith and his nine-year-old 92 2E cow took home their 12th grand champion rosette August 4 after the South central FFA Dairy Show. Smith- Dale Rosemary Marvex, a Marvex daughter, had won the Southcent ral FFA Dairy Show once before and the Shippensburg FFA Show and Carlisle FFA Show five times each. She has made over 100,000 pounds of milk lifetime production. Mary Ellen Deaven, front, showed the Junior champion Holstein, while Mark Brantner showed the reserve junior champion. A dam and daughter pair owned by Paul Rauhauser of Dover were named senior and grand champion, and reserve junior champion of the Jersey show. The grand champion Guernsey was shown by John Bums, front, and the reserve grand champion by Paul Rauhauser. Southcentral FFA Dairy Show Winners Named Smith, 20, the son of Galen and Linda Smith of Shippensburg, is a member of the Shippensburg FFA chapter. Reserve grand champion of the Holstein portion of the show, held at the Shippensburg Fairgrounds, was Dar-View Count Al, a junior two-year-old Count daughter owned by Michael Daugherty at Greencastle. The son of Glenn and Delores Daugherty, Mike is a member of the Conococheague FFA chapter. In the Jersey portion of the show. Lilac Springs Royal Irene, a junior two-year old owned by Paul Luther Rauhauser of Dover, York County, was named senior and grand champion. Irene’s daughter, a junior calf named Lilac-Springs Beau Iggy, took home reserve junior champion honors. Paul belongs to the Dover FFA chapter. Brian Reichard of Chambers burg, a member of the Blue Ridge FFA Chapter, showed the junior champion, a junior yearling named Reich-Dale Magic Duncan Twinkles. His brother, Chris, received reserve senior and reserve grand champion honors for his five-year-old cow. Miles tone Special Olivia. The Guernsey junior and grand champion, Rockmoore Kemals Ginger, was exhibited by Cham bcrsburg FFA member John Bums. Paul Luther Rauhauser showed the reserve junior and reserve grand champion. Chris Reichard of Chambersburg, rear, showed the reserve senior and reserve grand champion Jersey while his brother Brian had the junior champion Jersey. Brian also received the Master Fitter award. Timothy Smith, Shlppensburg, was named Master Show person of the FFA show. Presenting his award Is Arthur Staver for Pioneer Seeds, who sponsored the award. Christine Young of Newville, a member of the Big Spring FFA Chapter, led her senior calf to junior and grand champion plac ings in the Milking Shorthorn division. Mark O. Brantner of the Chambersburg FFA chapter received reserve junior and reserve grand chpmpion honors for his junior yearling. Mike Hensel’s junior two-year old, MRK E-Z Win Saydra, was named senior and grand champion of the Ayrshire show. Hensel, of Newburg, is a member of the Shippensburg FFA. Mary Ellen Deaven, a Chambersburg FFA member, took home reserve senior and reserve grand champion hon ors for her four-year old, Lil- Dutch-Acres Holly. Deaven also showed the junior champion and reserve junior champion. Franklin County’s Dairy Prin cess, Jennifer Gloss, showed the senior and grand champion of the Brown Swiss show. Twin Lane Claudia Marie. Jennifer’s sister Patty showed the reserve grand champion, Twin Lane Improver Millie Lily. Both girls are mem bers of the Chambcrsburg FFA chapter. Timothy Smith of the Shippens burg FFA chapter was named Master Showperson, while Brian Reichard received Master Fitter honors. Type judge for the show was Jed Beshore of Beshore Farms; New Cumberland. A Delaware Valley College graduate with a major in dairy science, Beshore milks SO Holstcins who maintain a RHA of over 20,000 pounds of milk and 775 pounds of fat Jeff Reasncr of Shippensburg served as- showing and fitting judge. Reasner complimented the exhibitors on their fine clipping jobs, noting how difficult it is not to leave clipper marks on the col ored breeds. “These kids have come a long way,” Reasner said. “They’re as good as the 4-H.” Reasncr milks 120 Holsteins in partnership with his father-in-law at Dyar-Acres farm.
