Hansen has been appointed Penn State associate jxtension agent in Bradford County. Hansen will provide forest land owners in Bradford, Lycoming, Sullivan, and Tioga counties with information on woodlot manage ment and marketing techniques. He will work with sawmillers and loggers to help them increase pro ductivity and efficiency without sacrificing safety. Additionally, Hansen will work to educate the public, both indivi dually and through workshops and lectures, about the environment and the importance of forestry in Pennsylvania. Prior to his appointment, Hansen worked as an extension specialist and a forest fire manage ment instructor with the University of Minnesota department of forest resources. He also was a teaching assistant with the Stephen F. Aus tin State University School of Forestry in Nacagdoches, Tex. Additionally, he Was a forester in the Plumas National Forest in Greenville, Calif. Hansen obtained a bachelor’s degree from Utah State University and a master’s degree from the University of New Hampshire, both in forest management. He obtained a doctor of forestry degree in forest ecology from the Stephen F. Austin State University. Hansen is a member of the Pen nsylvania Forestry Association, the Society of American Foresters, and the North American Associa tion for Environmental Education. He belongs to Sigma Xi, the scien tific research society, and Xi Sig ma Pi, the honorary forestry society.
