DAIRY SCIENCE CLUB ANNUAL AWARDS Young Dairyman Award A young man who is certainly meeting today’s dairy industry de mands is William Lesher, the Dairy Science Club’s 1989 Young Dairyman. Lesher is a 1988 Ag Science graduate. Upon graduat ing, Lesher returned to his fami ly’s farm and jugging operation where total sales reached $500,000 over the past year. Since his return to the farm, milk sales have tripled while feed costs have not increased. Club alumnus, in the near future. 64th Dairy Exposition Dedicatee Each year the Dairy Science Club dedicates the Dairy Exposi tion to an outstanding Pennsyl vania dairyman. This year’s dedi catee is Dale Olver, a progeny analyst with the Atlantic Breeders Cooperative. This summer, Olver will leave the cooperative to join the faculty at Penn State where he will be working with judging teams and the state 4-H programs. Olver is a native of Honesdale. He was president and vice presi dent of the Dairy Science Club at Penn State. After graduating in 1979, he went on to earn an im pressive judging and coaching re cord at the state and national lev els. He has been president and vice president of the Penn State Dairymen’s Club, advisor to the Pennnsylvania Junior Holstein Association, and was selected as the first recipient of the Penn State Young Dairyman Award in 1985.
