Spring Red and White Holstein BY MARIANNE WALKER Center Co. Correspondent UNIVERSITY PARK (Centre) —Although the 11 th International Spring Red & White Holstein Sate was indeed a success, it began on a solemn note. Elmer Carpenter, a Holstein breeder and accom plished artist from Crystal Springs, offered a painting of Red and White Holsteins prior to the auc tion. The artwork sold for $l,lOO to a 13-member syndicate from Canada, who purchased the paint ing in memory of Don Albrecht, a Red and White Holstein enthusiast who recently was killed in an auto mobile accident white in Australia. Albrecht was well known to Red and White breeders as a man who did much to promote the Red and White breed in Canada and the United States. After a moment of silence in Albrecht’s memory, the sale got under way with David Rama of Delhi, N. Y., at the auction block. j.* SENDERS SURE-STAND SEEDERS Get robust, produc tive stands every time by putting the seed Into the ground where it belongs Saves up to 50*/. on seed costs PULVI-MULCHERS PULVt-MULCHERS Build a firm clod-free seedbed one that lets all the seeds germi nate at one time S.V s. implements, such as field cultivators and disc harrows.
