OLD FARMER’S ALMANAC
NOV. 28-DEC. 4,1988
A gray-eyed November means a white-robed December.
Last quarter of the moon Dec 1 (Thurs) Abolitionist leader John Brown hanged at
Charles Town, W. Va, Dec 2,1859 .. World's worst industrial accident occurred at
Bhopal, India, when toxic gas leaked from Union Carbide plant, killing more than
2,000 people, Dec 3, 1984 Chanqkah begins Dec 4 (Sun ) Average length of
days for the week 9 hours, 19 minutes Success is a journey, not a destination
Ask the Old Farmer: 1 seasoned the three new
cast-iron skillets I bought by rubbing them with
cooking oil and heating them over a low flame
But everything hat I have cooked in the skillets
tastes like metal How can I treat them so this
won't happen 7 EC, Wadsworth, Ohio
jj ew cast-iron skillets sometimes have an iron taste
This should help Fill the skillets with water and boil
a handful of hay in each one You can use this hay
water to sweeten wood and tin dishes, too
Home Hints; Stake the location of root crops that you plan to winter over in the ground
OLD FARMER'S WEATHER FORECAST

OPEN HOUSE
FRIDAY, DEC. 2 - (ALL DAY)
Come & Enjoy A Free Meal At Paradise
Bring along a load of your top quality tobacco for our first sale
on Monday, Dec. 5 at 9:30 a.m. We will also receive tobacco all
week from Nov. 28 through Dec. 2.
BUYERS CANT HARDLY WAIT. That is why they are pounding
on your door trying to purchase tobacco before sale time. They have
all been in touch with the sale barn and have said they WILL be fol
lowing the sale. They are already concerned about getting enough
tobacco for their orders. It is very important that we have a ware
house packed full.
The Burley Markets opened on Monday, Nov. 21. Tobacco is very
much in demand and companies are bidding aggressively!
This could be another year like 1985 - if you stick together like
you did then, don’t sign contracts, and bring your tobacco to
AUCTION.
PLEASE - Buyers are concerned that farmers are mixing their
bottoms in with middles. It is true you probably will have less bot
toms this year but definately put them into their own grade or they
will appear as yellow streaks in your good middles.
THANK YOU FARMERS FOR TELLING THE BUYERS
YOU WILL SEE THEM AT THE AUCTION!!
We think we have something valuable AUCTION
will benefit the agricultural community for years to come.
Feel free to call Paradise Tobacco Sales if you have any questions
of if you have any information of buyer activity in the field. We
appreciate your phone call and we want to help you in any way
we can.
We are now dealers of 3 compartment
bale boxes, tobacco seed, and
cotton baling twine.
