Each year for the last five, activities promoting public relationships are high lighted at the annual Berks County Farm-City Banquet On November 10, the banquet held at Stokesay Castle included award presenta tions and reports on the farm business exchange. Sponsored by the county Cham ber of Contest the Farm-City Council, and agri-businesses, the banquet celebrated the exchange between business and agriculture. Awards for public relations in agriculture were presented to War ren Lamm and to WBYO, for promoting farm-city relations, involvement in agriculture and community organizations and for obtaining success in their occupations. WBYO has been broadcasting for 28 years on the 107.5 FM dial. The individual award recipient, Lamm, is a former Berks county farmer and presently employed as executive director for the Pennsyl vania House Agriculture commit tee. Said Bill Hughes, manager of Meridian Bank Agri-business department, “Lamm has worked within the system to move moun tains. As a fanner he got involved with farm organizations and local government. In his job, he molded and formed legislation. He is most famous for the farmland preserva tion legislation with Act 43 Ag Security Areas, Act 319 Clean and Green, and the present purchase of development rights. Both the county and the state will always be indebted to him.” Farm-business exchanges Slide presentations of the farm business exchanges held during October gave the audience a behind-the-scenes view of the program. Participants of the prog ram included Reading Mayor War ren Haggerty and Dr. Thomas DeLong, a Christmas tree farmer. Ray Kohler of the Reading-Eagle Times traded jobs with Clint Bar fell of Jurgielewicz Duck Farm.
