GRAIN AND LIVESTOCK APR. JUNE AUG, OCT. ACRES CORN UPDATE: Com futures closed out the day fractionally higher with losses in the deferreds of 3/4 cents. Buying interest throughout the session was light with many players side lined in advance of the crop report. Today’s lower opening was dictated by the lack of any firm export commitments. Gener ic certificates were bid mostly steady to slightly lower. Today’s USDA Crop Report, which was beaiishly construed by floor trad ers and analysts, showed total pro duction at 4.671 billion bushels which was up from the October 12 report of 4.553 billion bushels. Ending stocks increased from 1,407 billion bushels to 1.446 bil lion bushels. Trading remained confined to narrow ranges today with some short cov ering featured late in the session. The lack of a export confirmation opened the pit under pressure but news midsession that Spain and Yugoslavia had purchased beans helped to strengthen prices along with sharply higher foreign cur rencies. Today’s USDA Crop Report showed production at 1.512 billion bushels, which was up from the October 12th report at 1.501 billion bushels. Floor trad ers and analysts termed the report neutral for beans. Ending stocks In ,B 5 .812 ,813 ,B 18 C 2 Lancaster Farming, Saturday, November 12,1988-A3 WHEAT DEC. ACRES WHEAT UPDATE: Wheat futures settled mostly low er today after a fairly choppy ses sion featuring positioning in advance of today’s USDA Supply/ demand and crop reports. Some support was linked to ideas that China and the Soviet Union would soon be granted export bonus offers along with news that Iraq would receive credit terms on wheal and what flower. Aggres sive sellers were absent today with profit-taking limited in front of today’s reports. Today’s USDA Ending stocks report reported wheat unchanged at 528 million bushels from last months report (Turn to Page A 8) Departments Editorial Farm Calendar Farm Forum Classified Ads Mailbox Markets Sale Reports..'.
