OLD FARMER’S ALMANAC Seaton of miata and mellow fruitfulness. Poet XS. Eliot bom at St Louis, Mo., Sept. 26,1888 ... Portuguese navigator Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo discovered California Sept. 28,1542... Average length of days for the week 11 hours, 51 minutes... First "Peanuts" comic strip published Oct. 2,1950 ... Last quarter of the moon Oct. 2 (Sun.)... Mahatma Ganohi bom at Porbandar, India, Oct. 2, 1869... ft's always morning somewhere in the world. Ask the Old Fanner. Do you have any idea where the word s kulch originated? My mother used to say, "Clean out the skulch in your room," or ask Dad to take skulch to the dump (can't find the word in any dictionary E.S., Milford. N.H. Skulch probably originated from cull, as in to separate out inferior sheep from a flock. Later it became culch, meaning the inferior animals that were culled. It then went into general usage as a word meaning poor stuff, but too good to throw away. We would say skulch is a local variation of culch that means trash.
