822-Uncaster Farming, Saturday, September 24, 1988 Crawford County 4-H’ers Place High At The Northwest Dairy Show MEADVILLE (Crawfoid) Crawford County 4-H’ers placed high at the 41st Annual Northwest District Dairy Show held recently at the Crawford County Fair grounds. A total of 424 4-H dairy project animals were cataloged from the ten county area including Crawford, Clarion, Butler, Mercer, Jefferson, Erie, McKean, Lawrence and Venango counties. All of these animals were blue rib bon winners in their respective counties. Blue ribbon winners at this show will be eligible to com pete in the 33rd Pennsylvania Junior Dairy Show to be held in Harrisburg on September 26, 1988, at the Farm Show Complex Building. Crawford County had 152 animals eligible to compete in the District Show and 99 animals received blue ribbons andare eligi ble to compete on the state level. Tonya Black, Saegertown, placed first with her 4 yr. old cow, receiving junior champion and grand champion of the Brown Swiss show. In the Holstein show, Julie Custead, Cochranton, placed second with her Summer Yearling and Reserve Junior Champion. Christopher Hacked, Cochranton, placed first with his Summer Year ling and Junior Champion of the show. In the Milking Shorthorn show, Shannon Clevenger, Cochranton, placed first with her Intermediate Calf, first place Owner-Breeder award, reserve grand champion. She also had a grand champion and owner-breeder with her Senior Yearling. Terri Black, Meadville, placed first with her 3 yr. old Milk ing Shorthorn and won senior champion. Melissa Dengler, Saegertown, had the first red rib bon and reserve senior champion with her Jr. 2 yr. old cow.
