COLUMBUS, OH The top
10 winners of the 1987 National
Jersey Youth Achievement Con
test, sponsored by The American
Jersey Cattle Club, have been
announced. For the past 30 years,
this award has recognized youth
who excel in managing and breed
ing their Jerseys, actively partici
pate in breed functions, and show
exceptional leadership skills.
To be eligible for the contest,
juniors must own one or more
registered Jerseys and be at least
nine but not older than 19 years of
age. Juniors are nominated by their
state Jersey organization. Those
juniors who placed second through
tenth in the previous years and who
are still eligible by age may also be
entered.
The top 10 winners will be pre
sented with cash awards totalling
$2,000 at the Junior Banquet and

Parr, winner of this same contest in
1971, Herby D. has learned how to
balance feed rations on the
computer.
His Jersey activities have
included serving as president of
the South Carolina Junior Jersey
Cattle Club for the past two years
and on the 1988 All American
Junior Show Committee. He also
enjoys exhibiting his Jerseys at the
local, state and national levels.
