820-Lancaster Farming, Saturday, July 30, 1988 Warren GROVE (Warren) —Tara Jo Harrington was crowned the new 1988 Warren County Dairy Prin cess and Jolynne Brown was crowned the new 1988 Warren County Dairy Maid on Friday evening, June 24th. Tara is the 17-year-old daughter of Richard and Roberta Harrington of R-Haven Farm near Corry. She will be a senior at Corry High School this fall, where she is also a cheerleader. Tara is employed part-time at the Corry Country Club and plans to attend Pittsburgh Maid, is taking over the duties of Deborah Callan, former dairy maid. Jolynne is the 15-year-old daughter of John and Nancy Brown of Brokenstraw Farm in Lottsville and will be a sophomore at Eisenhower High School. Jolyn ne is a member of the Western 4-H Dairy Club, where she shows her five Guernseys that she owns. Besides dairy, she is a member of the Lottsville Stitchems 4-H sew ing club. Besides her 4-H activi ties, she is involved in basketball and is a member of the school’s Honor Society. Tara was selected on the results of her personal interview, a skit which centered around a slorylime theme, emphasizing the impor tance of milk and a question “What do you think is the most important duty of a dairy princess?” She replied that a dairy princess should let the public know that milk is good. Chosen to act as alternate dairy princess were Bethany “Buffy” Spicer, 18, of Gouldtown, daught er of Chevy and Doric Spicer and Jill Van Ord, 17, of Sugar Grove, daughter of Don and Roxie Van Ord. Jolynne was selected as dairy maid as a result of personal inter view, an essay about dairy promo tion and her answer to the question “Whv would you like to be the 1988 Dairy Maid?” She replied she is rather shy, would like to practice her public speaking, go places and meet people. Tonya Gilkinson, 12, of Lander, daughter of Rich and Vicki Gilkin son was selected alternate dairy maid. Last years dairy princess, Robin Curtis, daughter of Les and Thel ma Curtis and dairy maid Deborah Callan, daughter of Frank and Lynette Callan, received their incentive award for their efforts in 1987.
