814-Lancaster Farming, Saturday, July 30, 1988 Six young ladies will compete for the title of Lancaster County Poultry Queen at the annual con test to be held August 5, at the Farm and Home Center, Lancaster, beginning at 6:15 p.m. The winner will be crowned by Teresa Martin, Ephrata, reigning Lancaster County Poultry Queen. The Poultry Queen represents the Lancaster County poultry indus try, promoting its products and educating the public during her reign. Contestants include; Rebecca Barley, 17, daughter of Henry and Marsha Barley, Lancaster. She will be a senior at Penn Manor High School in the fall. She lives on a pullet growing farm. She enjoyS field hockey and gymnastics. Karen Brubaker, 18, daughter of Bob and Lois Brubaker, Manheim, graduated from Lancaster Menno nite High School in 1988. She lives on a poultry farm which can house 210,000 broiler birds. She enjoys tennis, swimming and volleyball. Alissa Hoober, 17, daughter of Mervin and Ruth Hoober, New Holland, will be entering her senior year at Garden Spot High School. Ahssa’s family raises 65 to 68 thousands pullets per year. She enjoys sewing, crafts, field hockey, piano and violin. Yeshashwork(Lily) Kibour, 18, lives with her guardian Grace Zim merman, Reinholds, on a broiler farm. Lily will be a senior at Gar den Spot High School in the fall. She enjoys swimming, bike riding, volleyball, and basketball. LisaNolt, 18, daughter of David and Shu-Icy Noll, Paradise, gra duated from Lancaster Mennomte School. She enjoys bowling, swimming, volleyball and running. Melissa Weidler, 19, is the daughter of Ralph and Julie Ella Weidler of Manhcim. She grad uated from Manheim Central High School and is presently employed at Kreidcr Farms, in the retail egg division. She enjoys swimming and just relaxing. Poultry Queen Contestants Named The winner of the contest will receive either a $5OO educational scholarship or $3OO in cash. The runner-up will receive a $3OO scholarship or $l5O cash. Julie spoke about 40 Lancaster County farmers at the Ford New Holland field day demonstration held at Welk Acres Farm, Quarryville.
