The PA Department of Agricul ture is looking for men and women to serve on the Board of the Pen nsylvania Dairy Promotion Prog ram. Board members must be working dairy men/women or be an employee of a dairy farm. In addition, each member must con tribute 10-cents per hundred weight of promotion assessment to Dairy Farm Open House Dairy farmers, their families and agri-business personnel are invited to Burk Lea Farms, 3099 Grand Point Rbad, Chambersburg on July 19 at 7:00 p.m. Janice and Stanley Burkholder are sponsoring this educational event in coopera tion with Franklin County Cooperative Extension and numer ous agri-business firms they work with. Dr. Dennis Buffington, Head of the Department of Agricultural Engineering at Penn State, will be the speaker. His topic wil be reduc ing summer heat stress in dairy catde. Barber has been hired by Southeast Farm Credit Service as a Loan Officer in the Silverdale Branch; Branch Manager Dean Shollenberger announced the hiring. Mrs. Barber is a gra duate of State College (PA) High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in horticulture/retail man agement from Penn State University in 1979. Previous to joining Farm Credit, Mrs. Bar ber was Assistant Coun ty Supervisor and Agri cultural Management Specialist for Bucks and Montgomery counties with FHA. She also gained banking experi ence from Cumberland County National Bank (in the Harrisburg area), a former employer. Mrs. Barber and her husband, Rick, a free lance artist, reside in Perkasie. She is serving accounts in Bucks County. Southeast Farm Cre dit service, an arm of the nationwide Farm Credit System, serves the financial needs of agri culture in the 5 county Philadelphia area. Loans for purchases of country homes are also provided by Farm Credit. Dairy Promotion the Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program. All Board members are expected to be active, and will be appointed to the Board by the Sec retary of Agriculture, Boyd E. Wolff. Secretary Wolff explained that over the past year, the Board has gone from an Advisory Board to a Board with direct authority.
