C2-Lancaster Farming, Saturday, June 18, 1988 The 28th Annual Parent- Member Banquet of the Lower Dauphin Chapter of the Future Farmers of America was held recently at the Senior High School cafeteria with more than 100 mem bers and guests present. The evening’s highlight was the presentation of the Honorary Chapter Farmer Degree to four chapter supporters: Ron Michaels, a high school teacher; William Jackson, editor and publisher of the “Hummelstown Sun”; Terri Houck, district public relations specialist; and Lee Savidge, for- Tri County FFA The Tri County FFA held a con test for Star Agribusinessman and Star County Farmer. The winner of the Star Agribusinessman was Don Irvin of the Bellefonte Chapter. Todd Woomer, also of the Belle fonte Chapter, is a co-holder of the Star County Farmer along with Tim Clouser of the Penn’s Valley Chapter. These three competed along with several other people from various chapters including Penn’s Valley and State College. Don Irvin won the Star Agribu sinessman for his outstanding records on his beef production and numerous hours of ag-business related jobs. He held the vice presi dent’s office during the ’B6-’B7 school year and the office of presi dent the following year. He was chairman of several of the commit tees of the FFA. Tammy Baker, a former DeKalb award winner, presented this year’s DeKalb Agricultural Achievement Award to Dawn Herr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Herr of Hershey. Dawn also was named the recipient of the Outstanding Citizenship award, presented to the senior student who best demonstrates the characteris tics of good citizenship. Dale Morgan received the Star Chapter Agribusinessman award. The Star Greenhand award was Todd Woomer received the Star County Farmer for such projects as dairy heifers, alfalfa hay, five acres of field com, and a vegetable gar den. Todd was the treasurer for the Bellefonte Chapter from 1986 to 1988. Tim Clouser is a Star County Farmer for such projects as a dairy calf, com silage, forage alfalfa, and small grains. Tim held the office of treasurer in ’B6-’B7, he is now holding the office of president PUBLIC SALE presented to Lee Blough and Ross Leach. Proficiency awards were pre sented to: Dawn Herr, floriculture and public speaking; Steve Kiner, outdoor recreation; Dave Coble, swine production; Tammy Baker, winner of the state proficiency award in ag processing: and Sha ron Huntzberger, winner of the stale proficiency award in swine production. The state Keystone Degree pin was presented to Dawn Herr. The State College Little Lions FFA Chapter met on May 24 to elect new officers for the next school year.
