DB-Lancaster Farming Saturday, March 12, 1988 PA Holstein Progressive Breeder STATE COLLEGE Twenty two Pennsylvania Holstein mem bers were honored with the presti gious Progressive Breeder Regi stry Award at the PA Holstein Convention in Lancaster. The requirements for the award include: 1) Herd must have a minimum of 20 cows in the milking herd which bear the owner’s prefix. 2) Cow’s bearing the herd’s pre fix must represent at least 75% of the total milking herd. 3) Herd BAA% from the last herd classification must be in the top 30% nationally (103.4% or higher in 1987). 4) DHIR herd lactation average must be in the top 30% of the DHIR regional average which for Pennsylvania was 21,481 m 768 f in 1987. Keystone Farms, Easton received the award for the 30th time this year while eleven breed ers received the award for the first time. They include: Thomas Kelly, Tyrone; Harry and Aliene Thomp son, Newtown; Alvin Stoltzfus, Oxford; Richard and Virginia Yule, Millville; Shellenberger Brothers, Mount Joy; D. Lamar Winner, Manheim; Benuel Z. Lapp, New Holland; Eugene Hall, Muncy; Charles and Doris Porter, Canton; Leroy and Ida Jane Plance, Wellsboro; and Robert Kulp, Manheim.
