County Extension Director Jay Irwin was probably the most sur prised award winner when he was recognized twice for his 20 years of leadership to the horse program. It was WGAL-TV meteorologist Rob Dixon who brought the first surprise, in the form of the “dry umbrella award,” as recognition for 20 years of perfect weather at the annual horse round-ups. Along with the certificate, Dixon pre sented Irwin with a happy face helium' balloon to which an umbrella was attached, and a WGAL-TV windbreaker, since “no one can predict prefectly all the time.” Later, leaders Kendy Allen and Rose Fellenbaum gave Irwin framed pictures of the horse show and a magazine rack fashioned to look like a horse which was created by member Chris Miller. While making the presentation, Allen said, “For 20 years, Jay was the rock we all leaned on, and all stood against. We couldn’t have gotten anyone better.” Tammy Long, 19, who is com pleting her last year as a member of the Boots and Saddles Club, received an “Award of Excel lence” for the highest points ever received at the state show by some- STRIKE rr RICH!
