Little did Brian Gougler of Hamburg think he had two winning calves, let alone the Grand Champion. He earned two first placings with both, and the final grand champion with the heavyweight Hist place. The calf weighed in at 37 lbs. and sold to F.M. Brown & Sots of Sinking Springs, for $1.50 per pound. The reserve grand champion, owned by Dean Kohler of Kutz It was purchased by Harvey Brown of F.M. Brown & Sons for $1.50 per pound. The average selling price with out the champion was $1.17 per pound, with the average weight at 327 pounds. The calves are raised and sold within a 13-15 week period. They are kept in calf shelters and are fed milk/milk replacer diets. The members then must keep a daily record of what is fed with increases of feed. Three calves may be raised at one time.
