For hay the only preservatives Heinrich recommended was prop ionic acid and perhaps sodium hydroxide. “Propionic acid is the only effective product on the market today for hay. It should not be used on a regular basis unless you want to lose two percent of your baler which gets eaten up by the acid,” said Heinrich.
