Owned by Lowell and Deb Bru baker of Hilltop Heritage Farm in Mount Joy this red and white Hols tein six-year-old, H.H. Triple Threat Sugar, has a production record of 23,879 pounds of milk and 849 pounds of fat. Brubaker was pleased with the win, but somewhat surprised. This was the first show for Sugar this year. Why so late in the showing season did he decide to exhibit the red and white cow? “She is a real good red cow and we decided to show her because she really looked good in the bam. She has eye appeal,” said Brubaker. Eleven-year-old Mark Tracy claims, “It’s been a good season for me.” Mark isn’t kidding. The son of Gerald and Helen Tracy swept both major titles in the show with his southdown sheep named Supreme Champion and his 121-pound Suffolk named the grand champion market lamb. Nine-year-old Aaron Groff, in his second year of showing, sur prised himself with claiming both the champion market lamb and the reserve market lamb awards. The son of Joseph and Ginger Groff, Elizabethtown, took his success in slnde and simply said, “I feel pretty good.” He and his sister Kem Groff, who placed first in novice showmanship, showed three market lambs purchased from Elvin Yeagley. Elizabethtown High School senior, Phil Yeagley, won the v reseve champion sale lamb with his 106-pound Suffolk that Tie pur chased from Greystone Manor. This prefix comes from Lowell’s parents’ farm. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bru baker also live in the Mount Joy vicinity. Sugar is classified as VG-87 with an excellent mammary sys tem and Tammy also has the same numbers with an excellent mam mary system. The last time Lowell exhibited a grand champion at the Manheim Fair was three years ago. Hill Top Heritage Farm milks 130 Holstems in its 300-head herd and has a rolling herd average of 17,600 pounds of milk with 587 pounds of fat with a BAA of 103. Sugar has produced 14 pregnan cies sired by Elevation for the Bru bakers. In the Ayshire division Angie Spickler, daughter of James and Linda Spickler of Mount Joy took the grand championship title and also the junior champion title. Michelle Kerdeman captured the reserve grand championship with from Dalmatia, judged the 135 entries. Her brother Daryl, 9, took the reserve junior title with his junior heifer calf. Their parents arc Gerald and Cheryl Hamish of Yellowgoose Road, Lancaster. Show judge was Lloyd E.
