Correspondent YORK FFA members wrapped up an afternoon of swine showing competition at the York Fair with a market hog class that ended in something of sibling rivalry and chapter pride. He had sold a littermate after weaning to John Eaton, Jr., a fellow member of the Red Lion FFA chapter. Eaton not only followed breeder Parlett into the reserve champion spot, but then handled his entry well enough in the ring to earn champion show Senior and grand champion York Fair Holstein 4-H award went to Rich Bupp with Brldgette Boyer claiming the reserve spot. Both weighed in at entry in the 240-246 pound class. Weight class winners were as follows: 174-196 pound, Gus Par lett, Red Lion; 198-206 pound. Bill Griffith, Kennard-Dale; 210-214 pound, Mike Stermer, Dover; 218-222 pound, Dave Stine, Northern; 224-228 pound, Jeff Stem, Dover; 230-234 pound, Gus Parlett, Red Lion; 240-246, Gus Parlett, Red Lion; 252-262, Paul Breaud, Kennard-Dale. In the FFA swine breeding divi sions, Mike Warner of Kennard Berkshire sows. Chester White and Duroc honors were a clean sweep for Red Lion’s Gus ParletL Paul Breaud, Kennard Dale, claimed champion and reserve awards in both Spots and Landrace categories.
