ACRES WHEAT UPDATE:
Wheat futures settled higher, .but
off session highs on selling asso
ciated with profit-taking. The con
tinued talk of quality concerns in
European wheat underpinned
prices along with ideas that the
Soviet Union might be looking at
another 2.0 to 4.0 MMT of US
wheat under the export bonus
program. Further support came
from steady to higher Gulf basis
levels and yesterday’s higher
than-expected weekly export
inspections. Prices rose from 1-3/4
cent to 3-1/2 cents today with the
December closing at $2.96-1/2, up
2-1/2.
