Any of these honors brings with ita host of appearances at parades, dinners, picnics, and identical twins, Karen and Kathy Weant, Taney town, MD display several of the ribbons and trophies they won recently at the Carroll County Fair. At the fair Karen was selected as the 1987 Carroll County Farm Queen. Now the family has both a queen and a prin cess since Kathy Is the 1987 Carroll County Dairy Princess. But, few families will get the double dose of live-in roy alty that Clyde and Rhoda Weant have at the 113 acre dairy opera tion located just south of the Mason-Dixon line. Their identical twin daughters, Karen and Kathy, both garnered crown and banner titles this summer. Karen is the 1987 Carroll Coun ty Farm Queen and will compete for the Maryland Farm Queen title. She was chosen as one of the Alternate Princesses andreceived the Best Skit Award. Sheis scheduled to present the skit during the Holstein Futurity Class at the Maryland State Fair. Karen and Kathy will be seniors this year attending Francis Scott Key High School. In school they are both in the marching and con cert bands, the Spanish Club, and members of the National Honor Society. However, both girls readi ly acknowledge that their farm backgrounds have steered them towards the 4-H program more than any other extracurricular activities. Wayne Feed Supply J. They are both 10-year veterans of the 4-H prog ram and both are National Club Congress winners Karen went to Chicago for Club Congress last year as one of the top 20 winners nationally in the categ ory of Dairy Foods. Kathy has won her trip this year in the category of Breads. Last year, Kathy was a member of the first place Dairy Bowl team in Maryland. They enjoy traveling and experiencing other life-styles. They are quick to credit their parents as having been sup portive of their 4-H activities and their competition in the Dairy Prin cess and Farm Queen programs even though it takes them away from home several times each week. Still the girls have work responsibilities on the farm includ ing tending the calves and baby pigs, helping with milking chores, unloading hay wagons, gardening, and house chores.
