BY SALLY BAIR Lancaster Co. Correspondent LANCASTER - Twelve high school seniors were awarded college scholarships worth $l,OOO each by the Farm and Home Foundation of Lancaster County this week. Awards are based on financial need, scholarship and leadership activities, and are awarded under the auspices of a scholarship fund established by the late Elmer Espenshade whose contributions made possible the building of the Farm and Home Center. Ac cording to the provisions of the trust, all scholarships must be awarded to students majoring in home economics and agriculture. Two awards were made to students planning to study home economics. Pamela J. Breneman, 18, is graduating from Donegal High School and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard E. Breneman, Mount Joy. She will major in early childhood education at Messiah College. Pamela is vice president of her church youth group and is coordinator of Fulton Opera House ushers at the high school. Also majoring in home economics is Lucinda D. Harnish, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Harnish, Willow Street, and a senior at Lancaster Men nonite High School. She will major in clothing and textiles at Goshen College. Active in 4-H, Lucinda has been a finalist in the state fashion revue program for two years. She has served as news reporter, secretary, vice president, and president of her club, as well as leading a sewing club for two years. In school, she is on the field hockey team and is active in the Future Agriculturalists of America. Ten of the scholarship winners are majoring in agriculture. They are: • Robert N. Barley, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Barley, R 2 Conestoga. A senior at Penn Manor High School, Robert will major in dairy production at Penn State. He has been a 4-H member for 9 years and has been president of his Future Farmers of America chapter. He also served on the student council, is a member of the Varsity Club and the National Honor Society. • Matthew J. Ehrhart, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip J. Ehrhart, Northeimer Road, Narvon. A senior at Pequea Valley High School, he will major in en vironmental resource management and civil engineering at Penn State. Matthew is senior class president and president of the National Honor Society. He has served as treasurer and vice president of the Future Farmers of America and is president of his church youth group. • Leon W. Hershey, 18, is the son of Miriam D. Heisey, R 6, Manheim. A senior at Manheim Central High School, Heisey will major in agricultural engineering at Penn State. President of the Future Farmers of America chapter, he is also a member of the National Honor Society. • David B. Hershey, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. John B. Hershey, Landis Valley Road, Lancaster. Working on the family farm, he is active in his church youth group and served as captain of the Manheim Township football team. • Jay K. Lowensbery, 17, is the daughter of Kathleen R.
