Milk - 938 lbs. Fat - 779 lbs. Protein (L to R) Brown’s Sales Rep. Steve Deysher presents the Seipt family, Doug, Don, Donald, and Gerry, with a plaque recognizing their accomplishments as Brown’s first herd to exceed 900 lbs. of fat. At the end of the 1986 testing year the DHI herd average on 88 cows was 23,726 lbs. milk, 3.8% test, and 904 lbs. fat. Featured on the plaque was Keystone Abe Jill (EX-93-4E) with lifetime milk production of over 296,000 lbs. of milk and over 10,000 lbs. of fat. By the end of her current record Jill should exceed 300,000 lbs. of milk. There are 17 Excellent Cows in the herd and 35 Very Good with a 107 BAA. Top Breeding Is Trademark Of Keystone Farms Keystone Jetstream Maureen, EX-94-3E, is an example of the type of genetics in the Keystone herd. At 8 years 5 months she finished a 365 day record of 31,230 lbs. milk, 3.7% test, and 1149 lbs. fat. Her current 9 year 8 month record in 258 days is 24,803 milk and 872 fat and her 305 day projected record is 27,819 of milk and 1000 lbs. fat. Outstanding genetics has been a trademark of Keystone Farms for many years, and the Seipts consider merchandising of this genetic potential through registered cows an important aspect of their management program. BROWN'S CONGRATULATES THE SEIPT FAMILY OF KEYSTONE FARMS ON THEIR FINE HERD We Are Proud To Play A Small Part In Helping Them Achieve Their Success Brown’s High Herd Award Feeding A Key To Top Production The Seipts credit good forages, consistent feed and the total mixed ration as keys to recent production increases. They feed about 7 lbs. of good hay plus a TMR including corn silage, haylage, high moisture shelled corn, and a Brown’s high protein supplement. With the exception of the sup plement and calf and heifer grain everything else is produced on Keystone Farms. Doug, who is responsible for feeding, appreciates the bi-weekly visits of Brown’s Sales Rep. Steve Deysher, and the ability of Brown’s to specifically formulate a supplement for his needs. He also appreciates the op portunity to talk with Dr. Tom Kichura, Brown’s Nutritionist, when he has feeding questions. The Future Looks Bright With young cows like Keystone Valiant Andrea, VG-87, coming on the future of the herd looks good. Andrea finished her 3 year 2 month record in 365 days at 34,510 of milk and 1153 of fat, and at 4 years 6 months in 352 days produced 41,455 milk and 1468 of fat. Andrea was raised on Brown’s Fitting Ration and made all these records on feeding programs developed in conjunction with Brown’s. The Seipts feel that the genetics is the base to high production but feeding, management, and lots of TLC (Tender Loving Care) are the corners of the keystone upon which high production rests. iMMrt* fan**, Utmtof, Ap»i 11, IIT-JHI
