D2B-Lancaster Fannins Saturday, March 14,1987 Bradford, Sullivan Schedule Agronomy Day TOWANDA - Bradford and Sullivan Counties announce the 1987 Agronomy Day on March 25 at the Ulster Fire Hall. The doors will be open at 9:30 a.m. for coffee and visiting with exhibitors. The program gets underway at 10:30 a.m. New regulations make pesticide licensing and keeping the license tougher. The Agronomy Day program will provide all four, and update certification can be com pleted that day at the end of the sessions. You must attend both morning and afternoon sessions to qualify. Update training will also be valid for commercial category 1 (agronomic). Doctor Douglas Beegle will discuss nutrient management for the farmer. He will focus on the concept of building nutrients with farm manures and legumes for the most efficient use by your crops. Dr. John Yocum, new to this region, will address the problem of weed and insect control in com and forage crops. Yocum is from the Penn State’s Landisville Research Center, and will point out how to protect yourself and others from pesticides and discuss solutions to weed and insect problems.
