Rabies Clinics Scheduled
HARRISBURG - The state Department of Agriculture reminds
Pennsylvanians that the Commonwealth’s rabies vaccination law is in
effect, including penalty provisions that provide for fines of up to $3OO.
The law, which took effect Feb. 13, requires vaccination of all dogs
and house cats over three months of age. Inoculations must be given or
supervised by a licensed veterinarian. Violators face maximum fines
of $3OO for each day the law is violated.
lx)w-cost vaccination clinics are being held statewide by private
organizations and veterinarians. Dogs should be on a leash and cats in
a carrier when taken to clinics. Clinics of which the Department is
aware include:
March 1; Taylor, Lackawanna County, at the Hose Co. No. 2 fire
house, 1 to 5 p.m., $4 fee.
March 1; Dickson City, Lackawanna County, at 231 Main Street, 2 to 4
p.m., $5 fee.
March 1: Old Forge, Lackawanna County, at the fire hall, noon to 3
p.m, $5 fee.
March 1; West Sunbury, Butler County, at the fire hall, 2 to 5 p.m., $5
fee.
March 4: Village of Old Frame, Fayette County, at the Nicholson Twp.
Building, 5 to 7 p.m., $5 fee.
March 5: Conneaut Lake, Crawford County, at Conneaut Lake
Veterinary Clinic, 85 Water St., 5 to 6:30 p.m., $5 fee. The clinic
is held every Thursday and will continue as needed.
March 7: Masontown Borough, Fayette County, at the Masontown
Borough Garage on River Avenue, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., $5 f ee.
March 7: Milesburg, Centre County, at the community center, 9 a.m.
to noon, $5 fee.
March 7: 30 clinics, participating members of Allegheny County
Veterinary Association, 2 to 4 p.m.
March 7-8: South Abington Twp., Lackawanna County, at the Humane
Society of Lackawanna County, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., cats on
Saturday and dogs on Sunday, $5 fee.
March 8: Dunmore, Lackawanna County, at 322 E. Drinker St., 2 to 4
p.m., $4 fee.
March 11: Connellsville Township, Fayette County, at the township
building, 5 to 7 p.m., $5 fee.
March 14: Dawson Borough, Fayette County, at the borough garage,
3:30 to 5:30 p.m., $5 fee.
March 14: Windgap, Northampton County, at 36 W. First St., 9 a.m. to
2 p.m., $5 fee.
March 14: Bellefonte, Centre County, at the borough building, 9 a.m. to
noon, $5 fee.
March 17: Luzerne Township, Fayette County, at the Luzerne Twp.
Building, 5 to 7 p.m., $5 fee.
March 18: Lemont Furnace, Fayette County, at the North Union Fire
Department, 5 to 7 p.m., $5 fee.
March 21: Morris Crossroads, Fayette County, at the Spnnghill
Municipal Building, 3 to 5 p.m., $5 fee.
March 21: Participating veterinarians in Berks County, 2 to 4 p.m., $5
fee.
March 25: Hiller, Fayette County, at the fire department, 5 to 7 p.m.,
$5 fee.
March 28: Salt Lick Township Building, Fayette County, 3 to 5 p.m., $5
fee.
March 29; Bradford County, 1:30 to 5 p.m., $5 fee; contact Jan Hunt at

May 2: Kennett Square, Chester County, New Bolton Center, 9 a.m. to
lp.m.,|3fee.
Crawford County: Every Thursday, 5 to 6:30 p.m., 85 Water Street,
Conneaut Lake, $5 fee.
Monroe County: Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays 2-3 p.m.) and
Saturdays (2-4 p.m.) at the Stroudsburg Animal Hospital; no
appointment necessary.
Pet owners also should be aware, according to the Department, that
many veterinarians are providing service in their offices for fees
comparable to those charged at clinics.
