Videotape Explains
Manure Calibration
UNIVERSITY PARK - Looking
for something useful to watch on
your new VCR? If you are involved
in farm operations, the Penn State
Cooperative Extension Service
may have the answer.
“How to Calibrate a Manure
Spreader” is an eight-minute
videotape produced in support of
Pennsylvania’s Chesapeake Bay
Program. Mitch Woodward,
regional Penn State extension
agent in Lancaster County, says,
‘lt’s a valuable management tool
that can help farmers use nutrients
in manure more effectively.”
The videotape is a companion to
the “Manure Spreader Calibration
Worksheet,” a fact sheet produced
by the Chesapeake Bay Program’s
technical note series.
“We’ve been running demon
strations of calibration procedures
at field days during the past year,”
says Woodward, “and now the
video will help us reach those who
have not been able to attend.” The
videotape demonstrates how to
calibrate both liquid and solid
manure spreaders.
