If you are involved in farm operations, the Penn State Cooperative Extension Service may have the answer. “How to Calibrate a Manure Spreader” is an eight-minute videotape produced in support of Pennsylvania’s Chesapeake Bay Program. Mitch Woodward, regional Penn State extension agent in Lancaster County, says, ‘lt’s a valuable management tool that can help farmers use nutrients in manure more effectively.” The videotape is a companion to the “Manure Spreader Calibration Worksheet,” a fact sheet produced by the Chesapeake Bay Program’s technical note series. “We’ve been running demon strations of calibration procedures at field days during the past year,” says Woodward, “and now the video will help us reach those who have not been able to attend.” The videotape demonstrates how to calibrate both liquid and solid manure spreaders.
