Cera has joined the University of Delaware Extension staff and the department of animal science and agricultural biochemistry as swine specialist and researcher, ef fective Jan. 1. He will also supervise the university’s swine research unit, which is located at the Research and Education Center near Georgetown. Cera holds a doctorate in swine nutrition from Ohio State University, as well as a master’s degree in animal nutrition from Texas Tech University. He earned his undergraduate degree in agriculture at West Virginia University. Before starting work on his Ph.D., the Ohio native spent three years managing commercial and purebred swine operations in lowa and Minnesota. His doctoral research concerned the use of supplemental dietary fat by early weaned pigs. In addition to his extension work with pork producers, Cera will conduct research on swine nutrition.
