818-Uncaster Farming, Saturday, November 29,1986 Members of the Franklin County 4-H Baby Beef Club honored county agent William Reagan and Mr. and Mrs. George Smith of mith’s Implement during their nnual awards banquet held -ccently at Lemasters Community center. William Reagan was honored for ■rving 30 years as county agent of 'ie 4-H beef club. A tribute to Reagan was read and the club resented him with a hand carved ne designed especially for him Mr. and Mrs. George Smith of Smith's Implement, Mercersburg, i eceived a plaque for 15 continuous years of sponsoring the beef club’s sale. In accepting the award, George jnuth said his office wall is nearly full of 4-H pictures. He said he wijoys supporting the youth of Franklin County, especially the 4- ' beef club. Awards were also presented to 4- members for their achievements at their annual roundup in October. Other awards were given to 4- H'ers whose steers had the highest eight gains. First place went to i ma Eshleman at 2.97 pounds per day; second to Lee Golden at 2 94 lands and third to Jacob Mann at 2 86 pounds Nichole Lebe received ■ .urth for 2.83 pounds and Spencer Ussong received fifth for 280 oounds Kegina Lebo received first place in the best project book contest; ' ■ond went to Donnie Sheiss, third 1 1 Nicole Lego, fourth to David Sheiss and fifth to Eric Sheiss. Club leader Leon Lebo thanked buyers and sponsors for supporting the 4-H beef club. Cook Takes Second In National Egg Cooking Contest PARK RIDGE, 111. - Daryl Urzen, first place winner in the Pennsylvania Egg Cooking con test, placed second in the adult competition at the National Egg Cooking Contest held recently in New York. Mrs. Urzen of Philadelphia received $2,000 in prize money for her Avocado Egg Salad recipe. Beran. and Mi n, Smiths Nebraska. In junior competition the win ners were Jenni Saneholtz, Washington, first; Maureen Callahan, New York, second; and Karen Josten, lowa, third. The awards ceremony for first place winners in both divisions will be held during the 1987 Pacific Egg and Poultry Association exposition in Las Vegas on April 30 at the president’s luncheon.
