The grand champion bull was shown by Spring Bottom Farm, Oak Hill Farm and Greenbrier Farm of Fairfield, Adams County, Pennsylvania. Their winning entry, “SBF Royal Gypsy King,” also took honors as junior cham pion bull. Spring Bottom Farm also had the reserve junior champion heifer, “SBF Royal Jewel.” Other Pennsylvanians who spent a great deal of time collecting ribbons were Keith and Linda Rooker of Uniontown, Fayette County. The Rookers showed the junior champion heifer, “PRS Drivers Lady; reserve senior and grand champion heifer, “PR Miss Prophette 505; reserve champion bull calf, “KLR Margin of Prophet.” Other winners were: Rolling Shade Polled Herefords of East Greenville, Montgomery County, PA, reserve grand champion Bull, “ASB.Mr. Goodbar 364,” which also was senior champion bull; and Oakencroft Farm & Sherridge Farm of Charlottesville, Virginia, reserve senior champion bull, “Sherridge Builder,” and champion heifer calf, “Of Mistress 119 N.” Charolais The names of Fisher, Smith and Sherman surfaced repeatedly as winning exhibitors in the Charolais open breeding cattle competition at the 30th Keystone International Livestock Exposition at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisuburg. James A. and Richard L. Smith of Lore City, Ohio, showed the Grand champion female Shorthorn and Polled Shorthorn, Pete Sweeney, judge, Mary & Duane Harper. The Smiths also grabbed glory with the award of premier exhibitor, and had the reserve intermediate champion female in “SCF Millicent,” and calf champ bull, “Mr. SCF.” ■ The Smiths in 1985 were the premier breeder, but that honor this year went to Kent Fisher of Oley, Berks County, Pennsylvania. Fisher also collected ribbons with the reserve grand champion bull, “HVF Continental,” which also was declared intermediate champion bull. Another Fisher, Kirk, also of Oley, achieved suc cess as well with “HVF Miss High Lite,” winner of reserve grand champion female and reserve senior champion female, as well as intermediate champion female. Another Pennsylvanian collected honors for herself and her home state. Amy Sherman of Abbottstown, Adams County, won grand champion female, senior champion female and junior champion female with “ALS Silver Gina.” Travis Sherman, also of Abbottstown, had reserve junior champion in “SS Silver Heather.” Pete Sweeney of East Lansing, Michigan, was the judge. Shorthorn Exhibitors from Pennsylvania and Maryland split grand champion honors in Shorthorn and Polled Shorthorn breeding cattle competition at the 30th Keystone International Livestock Exposition at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg. The reserve grand champion female was “7-B Pro Melissa,” shown by David Bowman of West Friendship, Maryland. Bowman also walked away with the title of premier exhibitor. His entry also was winer as calf champion female. Hollis Smith of East Dixfield, Maine, was declared the premier breeder of the show. He showed the senior champion female, “Sangamon Michelle,” and the reserve calf champion female, “HS Dusless Darcy.” Calf champion bull, “Woodside Irish Jim,” was another entry from Woodside Farms. Judge tor the October 3 com petition, which featured exhibitors from five states, was Pete Sweeney of East Lansing, Michigan.
