“Our agricultural community
and state government should work
together to assure that our
products continue to hold center
stage,” Scranton added. “By
working with the Export-Import
Bank to develop international
markets and by developing long
term produce contracts with major
supermarket chains in this state,
we can work to displace imports
and assure the continued vitality of
our agricultural community.”
‘‘l welcome the support of the
‘Agriculture for Scranton/Fisher
Committee’ and look forward to
having their support as we build a
coalition for victory across this
Commonwealth.”
Scranton, 39, is the only Penn
sylvania public official to be
honored by the National Wildlife
Federation for his efforts on behalf
of wildlife conservation and clean
up of the Chesapeake Bay. Under
this unique effort, Pennsylvania
has joined with surrounding states
to institute voluntary programs
which help to better manage
watershed areas in an effort to
reduce potentially harmful
drainage, particularly on
agricultural lands. These ac
tivities, in addition to improving
water quality, also help farmers to
preserve soil and nutrients.
