Virginia FA Names Star Farmer, Agribusinessman at Annual BY JULIE GOCHENOUR Virginia Correspondent BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Association of Future Fanners of America honored 256 members with the State Fanner Degree last week during its annual convention at Virginia Polytechnic Institute. State president Lee Arrington of Gretna, presided over activities during the four-day event. The first Virginia FFA con vention or State Rally, held in April 1927, was among the first held in the United States and may predate all other FFA state con ventions. That first convention organized the Future Farmers of Virginia, or FFV, and the Future Farmers of America used the constitution, by-laws, official ceremonies, portions of the em blem, and the structure of the FFV when the national organization was founded in 1928 in Kansas City, Mo. Virginia was also the first chartered state association of the national organization. - This year’s recipients of the State Farmer Degree include 17- year-old Tina Marie Stiles who was named Virginia’s FFA State Star Farmer for 1986. She is the first woman to receive this award in Are You Letting Stray Voltage Milk Your Profits? You bould be a|id You might not even know it. University studies show it may make your herd difficult to handle, increase mastitis, and ultimately lead to an overall decrease in your production and profits. Using computer technology, our survey documents the level of stray voltage and shows you when and where it occurs on your farm. From the survey report you can determine if stray voltage is milking your profits. If it is, Blackburn has the only guaranteed method of re ducing it from both on and off-farm sources. When we make it so easy to detect and reduce stray voltage it makes sense to find out if your milk output and herd health is less than it could be. To leam more about stray voltage and its effects call for our free brochure or arrange for a detection survey. We’ll put your farm to the test. And put your mind at ease. CALL MADISON SILO CO.
